Intoxicated driver arrives in taxi – Feb. 11, 2010

Two Detroit Post troopers responded to a one-vehicle traffic crash on the Lodge Freeway (M-10). The crashed vehicle was unoccupied, but the key was still in the ignition.  While conducting an inventory search of the vehicle, the troopers located multiple plastic bags containing suspected heroin.  An unknown male, who arrived at the scene in a taxicab, stated he was the driver.  The troopers detected an odor of intoxicants and conducted field sobriety tests on the suspect.

When he failed the tests, troopers arrested the suspect.  A search of his person revealed two small bags of heroin in his front pockets.  A total of 142 grams of heroin was seized.  Charges of possession with intent to distribution heroin and operating a vehicle while intoxicated are pending.
