Troopers rescue snowmobilers from Higgins Lake – Jan. 8, 2011

Houghton Lake Post troopers rescued two snowmobilers who had fallen through the ice on the west side of Higgins Lake.

The snowmobiles fell through the ice in two different locations a half-mile apart. Both individuals were in the water for more than 15 minutes before the troopers arrived.

The troopers responded to both scenes separately and deployed water rescue disks. With the help of the victims’ friends, the troopers were able to pull the two out of the water and safely onto the ice.
