Taser use ends hostage standoff – Dec. 26, 2010

An Ypsilanti Post trooper rescued a hostage in a multi-agency standoff along U.S. 12 near Platt Road in Washtenaw County.

The suspect was being pursued by several local agencies in connection with a reported felonious assault when he stopped on the side of U.S. 12, exiting the vehicle and dragging a woman through the driver’s side door. The man held a weapon up to the woman’s neck and a standoff ensued.

A trooper was able to get behind the man without being noticed and discharged a successful Taser shot. While the suspect was incapacitated, the woman was able to escape and officers arrested the suspect.

The suspect was lodged by the Clinton Police Department in the Lenawee County Jail.
