Metal thieves apprehended after being tracked in snow – Dec. 22, 2010

Two Houghton Lake Post troopers were on patrol in Crawford County when they noticed two sets of footprints in freshly fallen snow leading to a seasonal home. When the troopers investigated, they discovered a copper gas line from a liquid petroleum tank had been cut.

The footprints also revealed the suspects had looked into windows and vehicles around the house.  The troopers tracked the footprints to another home, where contact was made with two men who possessed bolt cutters.

The men were lodged in the Crawford County Jail on counts of larceny, trespassing and possession of burglary tools.
