Canine team finds lost man in Upper Peninsula – Dec. 6, 2010

An Iron River Post trooper and his canine located a missing elderly man suffering from the early stages of dementia early Tuesday morning in the western Upper Peninsula.

The 89-year-old man, who walked into the woods behind his home to cut down a Christmas tree, was reported missing to the Iron County Sheriff’s Office at 11:30 p.m. when he didn’t return home.

The man was located at 4:40 a.m. by the canine team a mile away from where he was last seen. He was found alive and well, but cold and scared.
