The Flint Post received a call from a company that discovered a large amount of their merchandise, which is not offered for public sale, being sold at a retail store in Richfield Township. A trooper obtained a search warrant and recovered $33,000 worth of stolen merchandise.
During the investigation, over 30 interviews were conducted in Eaton and Genesee counties, leading investigators to identify an employee who had stolen items from the company and then resold them to the retail store.
The employee was arrested for embezzlement and the money was recovered. In addition, the suspect gave consent to search his residence, where he was storing stolen company property worth another $4,600.
