Traffic stops produce marijuana seizures – Jan. 30, 2010

Ypsilanti Post troopers made two large marijuana seizures this week resulting from traffic stops on I-94. On January 27, a trooper stopped a vehicle for an equipment violation and discovered the passenger had several warrants. A consent search of the vehicle uncovered three pounds of marijuana in the trunk.

On January 30, a different trooper stopped a mini-van for an equipment violation and found the vehicle’s occupants gave conflicting stories. Based on other indicators of criminal activity, the trooper conducted a probable cause search of the vehicle that resulted in the seizure of two pounds of marijuana that was in a duffel bag on the backseat.
