Stephenson Post troopers were northbound on US-41 in Menominee Township when a vehicle approached their patrol vehicle from behind at a high rate of speed. The patrol vehicle’s rear radar antenna was activated and the vehicle was clocked traveling 95 mph in a 55-mph-zone. The speeding vehicle abruptly changed lanes and passed the fully marked patrol unit.
During the ensuing traffic stop, a 30-pack of beer was observed in the suspect vehicle. The 19-year-old male driver was arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated, having open intoxicants in the vehicle, transporting open intoxicants and fugitive-probation violation. The 19-year-old female passenger and 20-year-old male passenger were arrested for having an open alcoholic container in a motor vehicle and for being a minor in possession of alcohol.
